About me
By day, Nicki Slaugh is the principal of a junior high school that’s gaining national attention for its transformation into a personalized, competency-based learning model. By night (and sometimes in-between), she’s an author, keynote speaker, and educational consultant with Aspire Change EDU, helping schools across the country personalize learning and drive student success.
With over 20 years in education, Nicki has built a reputation for redefining traditional methods. School culture is her priority and her jam—she’s passionate about creating a positive, inclusive environment where both students and teachers can thrive. She’s developed proficiency scales, self-paced learning pathways, and crafted rubrics that put voice and choice in the hands of teachers and students. Her book on personalization reflects her dedication to empowering students to take charge of their learning.
From her start as a Kinder, First, Second and Third Grade Teacher to her role as an Instructional Tech and Curriculum Coach, to now as a Principal, Nicki has always believed that teaching is not what I do, it is who I am. She’s earned accolades like Teacher of the Year, the Model School Award, and a STEM designation for her school in Utah. Her goal is simple yet ambitious: to make learning fun, engaging, and purposeful for every student.
Whether she's hyping up her staff, speaking at conferences, or consulting nationwide, Nicki's mission remains clear: education should be personalized, positive, and—above all—student-centered. For her, every day is a new opportunity to inspire, innovate, and make a difference.
