About me
Phyllis Vigil, a proud San Luis Valley native, has dedicated her career to nurturing young minds. She earned her bachelor's and Master of Arts degrees from Adams State University. With 24 years in education, she has spent the past 22 years as a cornerstone of the Sierra Grande School community, passionately teaching First Grade. In recognition of her exceptional contributions to education, Ms. Vigil was honored with the San Luis Valley Educator of the Year Award in May 2023 and the Adams State School of Education Educator Highlight Award in June 2023. Ms. Vigil is deeply committed to her students, striving to empower them to become the best individuals they can be. She has completed specialized training in Mindfulness, Social and Emotional Learning (SEL), and Yoga, providing her with effective strategies to enhance educator and student outcomes. By integrating mindfulness tools, SEL strategies, and yoga practices into her classroom, Ms. Vigil creates an environment where students can academically and emotionally thrive.
