About me
As a Colorado native and experienced PreK-12 Art Teacher at Sierra Grande School District R-30, I am dedicated to fostering creativity, problem-solving, and collaboration among students of all ages and backgrounds. Born in Craig and having lived in Alamosa and Denver, I graduated from Alamosa High School and later earned my degree from Metropolitan State University of Denver. My teaching philosophy is rooted in the Teaching for Artistic Behavior (TAB) methodology, a choice-based approach that empowers students to explore their unique artistic voices and make creative decisions independently. With expertise in painting, drawing, sculpture, printmaking, ceramics, fiber arts, graphic design, STEAM integration, 3D modeling, and 3D printing, I create a dynamic classroom environment where students can experiment with a range of materials and techniques. TAB allows me to guide students in developing both technical skills and self-confidence as artists, fostering an environment that encourages exploration and self-expression.Outside of teaching, I enjoy spending time with my husband and our six-year-old daughter, along with our two dogs, fish, and geckos. My passion for art, family, and continuous learning drives me to create an inspiring space where students can grow and thrive creatively.
